'Port coast to win

Tayport played their first competitive home match of the season when they entertained Lochee Harp, in a DJ Laing League Cup sectional tie.

With various players either injured or on holiday, 'Port were far from full strength, but they turned in a positive performance to record a comfortable three goal win.

The opener came as early as the eighth minute when Darren Scott advanced into the area and managed to test visiting goalkeeper McPherson.  The ball rebounded to Stefan Elvin and he showed great composure to guide home his second goal in two games.

Harp had one first half chance, through Paul Cooney, but Frazer Fitzpatrick was equal to it.  For the rest of the half, Tayport probed for openings, without adding to their tally.

Four minutes into the second period, Darren Scott took possession, raced away from his marker and found the corner of the net with a low finish, putting his side two goals to the good, against his former club.

In the closing stages, the Canniepairt men added a third when a cross from the left found debutant Barry Donnachie, whose header sailed into the net, to effectively round off a satisfying afternoon for Tayport.

Fitzpatrick, trialist, Ferguson, Morris, Hunter, Donnachie(trialist), O'Connor, O'Doherty, Scott(Gray), McNaughton, Elvin.
