Robbie on the mark

Tayport entertained a youthful Aberdeen XI on the Canniepairt, earning a creditable 1-1 draw.

Playing some encouraging football, 'Port went close when Robbie Henderson's effort drifted narrowly off-target, but Henderson was on the mark in the 39th minute, to give his side the lead.  Ronnie Kenneth nodded on a cross from the right and Henderson was well-placed to head into the net from close-range.

Both 'keepers made saves before half-time.  Neal Ferrie produced a typically instinctive stop to keep Aberdeen at bay, then the visiting 'keeper blocked a Ross Lunan header, on the line.

'Port made five changes at half-time, with Scott Hunter also coming off the bench during the second half.  The hosts remained competitive, with Grant Manzie knocking the ball over and Henderson being denied after having been played in by Mark Whatley.

The Dons equalised on 67 minutes, though, when Brian Livie was deemed to have fouled an Aberdeen striker inside the area, thus conceding a penalty.

Frazer Fitzpatrick was unable to stop the spot kick, but he did make a couple of fine saves in the closing stages, helping Tayport to a deserved draw.
