Tayport came from behind to defeat visiting Lochee United, in a DJ Laing League Cup tie on the Canniepairt.
The Bluebells drew first blood, on 18 minutes, when a ball over the top caught out the home defence and Paul Blackwood beat Neal Ferrie to the ball, sending his lob into the net, from the corner of the eighteen-yard box.
Lochee then had an effort chalked off for offside, before 'Port levelled matters in the 33rd minute. Dead-ball expert, James Russell, curled his free-kick around the wall and beyond 'keeper Iain Ross, for his third goal in three games.
Towards half-time, Tayport forged ahead. A throw-in from the right was flicked on by Ross Lunan and Ronnie Kenneth pounced to stab home what proved to be the winner.
The first major incident of the second half was a straight red card, shown to Lochee's Grant, for a foul on Roberto Morris. The numerical advantage was not terribly obvious during the remainder of the game, but Tayport did create several openings. Stuart Ferguson went close with a header, Grant Manzie miscued as he stretched for a Kenneth cut-back, and Russell fired narrowly wide.
Barry McNaughton saw a back-post header come off the bar, with Iain Ross tipping Derek Wemyss' follow-up over the top. Ross also thwarted Mark Whatley, who had hit a left footed screamer, and Stevie McManus, who had been played in by Manzie.
With the goal at his mercy, James Rusell rolled a shot past the post in the final minute of a typically competitive match involving the area's Super League rivals.
