14/05/2008 - SFL final and Schools semi final at Tayport this weekend

The Canniepairt will host two prestigious cup matches this weekend. On Friday evening, Milne's HS from Fochabers meet St Andrews and St Brides HS from East Kilbride in the Semi Final of the Scottish Schools Under 14s Cup. Kick off is at 6pm.

On Saturday afternoon it's a Scottish Football League first for the Canniepairt when Cowdenbeath meet Queen's Park in the Final of the SFL's Under 17 League Cup. Kick-off is at 3pm

14/05/2008 - Milestone victory for Violet

Tuesday evening's 3-1 win was a milestone victory for Violet. Of the previous 39 games between the sides, Tayport had won 35 and 4 games were drawn. Tuesday brought a first win in 40 attempts by the Glenesk Park club.

14/05/2008 - Forthcoming fixtures
Defeats in the last two weeks by third tier opposition in both the Redwood Leisure and Challenge Cups as well as elimination by Lochee United following a penalty shoot-out in the East of Scotland Cup have ensured that the season will be brought to an unusually early conclusion. Fixtures after Saturday are: Saturday 24 May - home v Camelon (Super League); Monday 26 May - home v Blairgowrie (Currie Cup semi-final)

13/05/2008 - Lochee United v. Tayport

As the season draws nearer its conclusion, Tayport have little to play for, but will want to finish the Super League campaign on a high.

Doing so will not be easy, as a couple of very tough fixtures remain, starting with Saturday's trip to meet old rivals and title favourites, Lochee United, at Thomson Park.

The Bluebells have had a hectic schedule of late, but, for the vast majority of these contests, they have been winning.  They will, therefore, go into the match with a graet deal of confidence.

'Port, on the other hand, were dealt a significant blow on Tuesday, losing to Violet in the Challenge Cup.  At least the Canniepairt outfit have raised their game for the two recent matches against Lochee, albeit losing both on penalties.

Another mammoth effort will be required this weekend, but there is no doubt that the players will relish the challenge.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm.

11/05/2008 - Super Six
Super Six numbers drawn tonight were 1, 5, 9, 12, 17, 18. No Jackpot winner. This week's jackpot is £1,400. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs E.Smith; E.Doctor; Eunice Mason; F.Mann

11/05/2008 - Diamond Club
Tonight's winning number in the Diamond Club is No 031, Christine Smith.

10/05/2008 - Violet v. Tayport

Having played at Beechwood Park on Saturday, ‘Port will be back in the same neck of the woods on Tuesday, when they play Dundee Violet, at nearby Glenesk Park.

It’s a Challenge Cup third round tie, and, having won the competition last season, Tayport will be keen to retain the trophy this year.  Violet will provide stiff opposition, though, so the visitors will take nothing for granted.

There could be selection problems for Frank Conway and Ian Gilzean, with the club’s two first-choice central defenders missing on Saturday.  Reon Juskowiak and Brian Livie filled in against Harp, but Roberto Morris had to be pressed into service after the former picked up what looked like a groin injury.

As far as the strikers are concerned, Ronnie Kenneth remains on crutches, but Darren Scott has found his goalscoring touch, so will be raring to add to his tally at Glenesk.

10/05/2008 - THE 'PORT FIVES

Entries for the THE 'PORT FIVES are almost completed and we currently have exactly 100 teams over the the eleven age groups.  Information packs, including the draw, will be sent to every team by Friday 16th May.  Ideally we need a few more teams to balance the draw.  The following additional teams are required:

Under 9 - 3

Under 10 - 1

Under 11 - 1

Under 12 - 1

Under 13 - 2

Under 14 - 2

Under 15 - 5

Under 16 - 2

Under 11 Ladies - 2

Under 13 Ladies - 4

Under 15 Ladies - 5

07/05/2008 - Lochee Harp v. Tayport

Tayport make the short trip to Beechwood Park on Saturday, for a Currie Cup third round tie against Lochee Harp.

A host of former Harp players in the Tayport squad adds a little intrigue to the occasion, as does the fact that the Canniepairt management duo was previously employed at Beechwood Park.

No room for sentiment, however, as this is a game ‘Port must win.  The Currie Cup is now one of only two avenues to silverware still open to Tayport, so the game is of great importance.

In terms of team news, neither Ronnie Kenneth, who attended the match on crutches, nor Roberto Morris played in Wednesday’s defeat to Lochee United, although there were returns from Barry McNaughton, Brian Livie and Ross Gunnion, with Kevin Kelly on the bench.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2.30pm.

04/05/2008 - Super Six
Numbers drawn tonight were 1, 4, 12, 15, 22, 23. There was no jackpot winner, so next week's jackpot is £1,200. Consolation prizes were won by Cath Hunter; Ron Smith c/o Ross's;  Jim Rae, Cowgate; A. Lindsay, Dundee Airport.
