After failing to break through into the first team at Gayfield, Joe was farmed out to Dundee North End where, at only 17, he instantly impressed and earned a reputation for a no-nonesense full back. Despite being a natural left footed player, he is equally comfortable in the right back role. Joe followed Iain Jenkins to The Canniepairt, initially on loan, before signing permanently in August 2009.
