WHAT IS WALKING FOOTBALL?
Walking Football has become increasingly popular. It is exactly what it sounds like - a standard game of football where players walk instead of run. It is designed to help people get fit or maintain an active lifestyle no matter what their age, fitness or ability, as well as support people getting back into football if they have given it up due to age, injuries or ill health.
People who play Walking Football have seen many benefits: lower heart rate and blood pressure, weight loss and more muscle.
Our age group is 50+ and is open to both men and women.
Teams of 5,6 or 7 a side.
Indoor or outdoor.
No running with or without the ball.
No slide tackles. No tackling from behind.
Only 3 touches when you receive ball.
Ball not to go higher than head height.
There are a few more, but you will have them all explained when you come along.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A SESSION
A warm greeting from those attending and a bit of banter and laughter as well!
You can wear whatever you are comfortable in, trainers not studded football boots.
We have a 15-minute warm up session, followed by team selection and coloured bibs for each team.
Cost is £5:00 per session with the first session free.
We meet at 10:30 am every Friday at the Canniepairt.
