East Craigie FC 1 – 3 Tayport FC

Another game and another three points for Tayport as they took on East Craigie away from home. It was a match filled with chances for both sides. The first shot came from the home side inside the first five minutes of play, but it was headed wide. A few minutes later, action down the other end of the pitch, the shot from Tayport’s Louis Joyce also went wide. There were another few chances for Tayport as the first half ticked on, but it wasn’t until the 24th minute that Dayle Robertson managed to take the ball round the keeper and hit it home, putting the away side 1-0 up. It wasn’t long before Tayport found the back of the net once again, this time it was Jamie McCabe with the finish after Robertson’s shot was saved by the Craigie keeper. As the first half drew to a close Tayport tried their luck again, the cross from Jamie Gill headed just over the bar new signing Jamie Hume.
Tayport started the second half on the front foot, with shots from goal scorers McCabe and Robertson both saved well by the Craigie keeper. Craigie tried their luck at the other end of the park but their shot from the edge of the box went wide. The half continued, peppered with chances for both sides, neither of whom could find the back of the net. Until the 73rd minute when Craigie managed to claw one back, a cross headed in by Rory Faulkner. The goal came as a wake-up call for the away side and it wasn’t long before Robertson managed to find the back of the net once again in the 89th minute, securing the three points for the visitors. Another chance came for Tayport before full time but it wasn’t quite enough and the game finished East Craigie 1 – 3 Tayport FC.
Arguably their most difficult game of the season thus far, it was another incredibly strong performance from a dominant Tayport side as we head into the festive break. They’ll certainly be looking to continue on such strong form when the league resumes in January.
With supporters unable to attend their games, Tayport’s Matchday Programme has gone online this season. It’s available to all and can be accessed on the club’s website at www.tayportfc.org
