Tayport ended Forfar West End’s unbeaten run with a convincing win to pick up three points at Strathmore Park on Wednesday evening. Despite falling behind to Rikki Gillespie’s penalty kick midway through the first half, a burst of three goals in four minutes from the half hour mark was a reward for ‘Port’s first half energy. Dayle Robertson equalised, showing good control whilst surrounded by defenders to score with a low drive into the corner. A powerful run and cross from Jamie Gill caused confusion in the home defence and Reece Ritchie took full advantage to sweep home the loose ball. The game had completely turned round when Ryan Paterson’s corner wasn’t cleared and the ball ended up in the net for 3-1.

West End were back in the game early in the 2nd period and it was from another dead ball situation after Craig Sturrock had been penalised 30 yards from goal. Gillespie gave Thain in the Tayport goal no chance with the sweetest of free kicks. Two late goals sealed a deserved victory for the visitors. Robertson set up Louis Joyce to fire home number 4 and there was time for a 5th, Robertson's header from Paterson’s corner giving keeper McLeod no chance as he grabbed his hat-trick in the last few minutes of the match. After the game Robertson was named the Tayport Distillery man of the match.
