Dick Smith is a warmly remembered football personality particularly in local footballing circles. Dick, who passed away in 2019, was a professional with East Fife then with Hakoah in Australia. On his return to Scotland, Dick was involved with Newburgh Juniors and then Tayport FC after taking up residence in the town a number of years ago.
Dick, who also enjoyed his golf at Scotscraig GC, was actively involved with Tayport FC. A familiar face and fine ambassador for the club, Dick rarely missed a training session or a match, home or away.
Last weekend Dick’s widow Sandra, together with a number of close family members, scattered Dick’s ashes on the Canniepairt pitch and on Dick’s short matchday route to the ground.
